UNIVEST PREPRESS is an affiliate of the Univest Marketing Company established on June 28, 1994.

 

In January 1, 1995, the own design-studio was created at Univest Marketing (5 PCs with Intel-486 processors and Sony-15sf monitors, one of the first Apple digital photo cameras in Ukraine and Wacom graphic tablet imported from the USA). Later on, it has developed into the repro-house (first hardware set – AGFA SelectSet 7000 image setter and a laminator with a printing frame for analogue color proofing – established in September, 1995, later on, professional Leafscan slide-scanner was installed).

The earliest projects were: advertising layouts for the Proposytsiya Magazine, advertising production for Monsanto and Bayer Companies, making-up and prepress preparation of one of the first full-color glossy magazines of the highest category LOOKS (Euromedia publishing house), outlook and graphic concept development for the Ohorodnik Magazine (the most popular subscription publication of Ukraine).

For the very short period, the division has become one of leading repro-houses of Ukraine and design-studio providing services in printing products design for dozens of large companies. In 1997, the repro-houses purchased ICG-355i drum scanner and one more image-setter. Based on our team, the prepress services sale department was created. In line with the Univest Marketing printing house development, the department began selling printing products, which underwent the whole cycle of prepress preparation at our enterprise.

In 1998, all printing facilities were singled out into the Univest Print brand (corporate identity of which has been developed by our designers). In March of 2000, the Univest Marketing company finished construction of its own office premise (44-b Dmitrievskaya St.), all company subdivisions (except printing house) moved to.

In 2000-2001, considerable funds were invested in the repro-house equipment: automated complex based on the drum type image-setter of the highest B1 Agfa Avantra 44S, workflow pre-printing system Agfa Apogee s.2 (at present, it is updated to the latest development announced at DRUPA-2004 exhibition, Agfa ApogeeX v.2), Imation MatchPrint analogue color-proof complex (at present, matching the highest quality standards), the 1^st complex (at present, there are 3 of them) of BestColor digital color-proof, large-format printer Agfa Sherpa, professional tablet scanner Scitex EverSmart, professional film scanner Minolta Dimage Scan, Barco monitors were installed.

For all these years, pre-printing business of our company has been constantly growing and at the moment, we are proud to admit that only half of workload performed by our prepress specialists are orders of other subdivisions of the Company (Univest Print, Univest Media), while another part is ordered by other publishing houses and advertising agencies. Successful work of Univest PrePress greatly depends on teamwork of specialists demonstrating creative and non-standard approaches to work.

This step allowed better using of gained experience and solving difficult tasks in the prepress processes domain.

In 2003, the new client - Metro Cash & Carry Ukraine — became one of the major clients of PPB, for which the full complex of prepress services was rendered: promotional materials photographing, scanning, designing, and making layouts, color separation. We started cooperation with the largest publishing houses of the Independent Media (Cosmopolitan, FHM and Men’s Health magazines) and Burda ("Dobrye sovety", "Moy rebyonok", "Oops!", “Playboy”) Companies on prepress preparation of editions.

In November 2003, the Photo studio (having area of 50 sq. m) was opened in the new office. It was equipped with all necessary professional hardware of Nikon, Mamiya, Hensel, and Manfrotto companies. We produce digital and analog photography (advertising, modeling, staging, and interior) of any complexity level both in our studio and at customer’s place (throughout Ukraine). Our specialists will assist you in professional preparation of photo-shooting results for printing products production.

In September 2004, the company expanded range of its services with opening of the new digital printing direction. We launched the mini-printing house based on Xerox DC12 and different finishing equipment for execution of urgent orders on small circulation. We also started operations within the wide-format digital printing market — width of imprint materials of VUTEK UltraVu 3360 printer is 3 m.

Also, in September 2004, complex of direct expose of CtP Agfa Gallileo VXT plates was put into operation at the Univest Print printing house, which expanded our capacities and allowed establishing new quality and efficiency standards.
